starting problems
i have a 1993 honda accord that is having starting problems. it turns over and starts but as soon as you release the key, the car cuts off. does anyone know what the problem could be?
There are several possibilities: lack of fuel, spark or compression, these are possible Maintenence items among many other possiblities: spark plugs (worn), ignition wire (Worn), distributor cap (worn), distributor rotor (worn), fuel filter (too dirty), air filter (no air getting in) and timing belt (timing is off)...
you need a new ignition switch
take the plastic off the column...from underneath there is a few phillip screws and the bottom cover will fall off...then take the top cover off...
you can see the back of the ignition switch and all the wiring...take the small phillips screw out of the white plug and the wireing part of the ignition will be in your hand...
you can start the car and everything from that switch...if looking at the end of it it looks like a slot...take a screwdriver and start the car...and see if it stays running...if it does then you need to either change the wirng part of the key switch itself..
