Rotary Tech Info
doing a project and could use some good sites for info (other than howstuffworks). need some history, rotary theory, and pics of exploded motors. hopefully i'll find some good sites for the presentation.
there are several sites about rotary engines try the forums at www.nopistons.com
www.rx7club.com
If you want rotary engines in automitive try http://www.monito.com/wankel/history.html
for overall rotary engine history (including rc and aviation) try http://www.rotaryaviation.com/rotaryhistory.htm
another few good sites are http://www.millville.org/Workshops_f...ls/wankel.html
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/5903/QA.html (this one has 3 good pics of the results of a blown apex seal)
http://www.rx7uknet.dircon.co.uk/binhist/start2.html
as for exploded motors I don't know of that many pics of them. when people say they blew up the engine it usealy is just a blown apex seal. I've heard some stories of getting bolts/nuts falling into the engine and denting things to hell. rotary engines are proned to heavy carbon build up (I can get a few pics of this maybe if you want).there are alot of stories of engine fires in rx7s because they produce a extreme amount of heat compared to piston engines. you can try to get a few pics from http://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=3 as soon as they complete thier new web page (I don't know when though). If you have any more questions about rotaries just pm me.

thanks. the presentation went well.
i tried the mintaro site, i also used the mazda site and 3rotor.com. and when i mean exploded, i mean a view of it as in a techincal drawing of the parts of the engine, not litteraly a blown motor.

I think this is pretty much exactly what you're looking for... if it's not to late.
