I have a b16 engine and it is missing the knock sensor. Is this actually needed for Vtec. Ive heard that it is and that it isnt. DO i need this to actually run my motor?

Re: Engine question
No. just ground out the wire for the knock sensor coming from the ecu to the body of the car. If your motor is knocking, you will know cause it is blown. If you need one, I'm pretty sure I have one.

Re: Engine question
It's not really needed if your setup (ECU and engine) is tuned properly.. Many people don't use them, and don't have a problem. You can go without a knock sensor if your ECU is chipped, the knock sensor output just has to be disabled in the program (chip).

Re: Engine question
Ahh I see. IMO its better to leave it in and tune the car so it doesnt see detonation. Then if you ever do see it, your motor may be saved. Wasnt trying to sound like a dick there, like I said I dont know much about hondas.

Re: Engine question
Strange, you should be throwing a code... JDM ECUs are funny about some stuff though, the USDM ECUs will throw a code if you sneeze.
