how do you join a club such as nasa/scca? and what are the benefits/requirements of joining? just out of curiosity.. not trying to hi-jack the thread, just read some talk of it so i guess it slightly pertains to it

I once witnessed a novice in a Ford product come to a complete stop about 3 feet offline at the exit of VIR's lower esses, so he could point by the long train of cars he was holding up... on-track stupidity has no stereotype!
Or did you mean just in general, like doing burnouts in the paddock and stuff? That's just about the quickest way I can think of to get thrown out...

HOLY SHT..... After many hours searching for a track idea in local area. this shit pops up.
im not a part of it. but oh well.....
Good to see something within 2 hrs or less.
I just left from ViR in november. AudiClubNA....excellent group. not everyone is a track drivers. i would honestly tell someone try AutoX first to see if you like it.
$300+ for one weekend is a bit to waste to find out you dont like track events.
anyhow. good to see this coming. sorry some folks were against this. why would you not want something that will keep racing off the street?
in all honesty, I dont even feel the need to speed half as much after track events this year. you do get it out of your system.
hope to see this thru.

Earlier this year an instructor and driver got killed at infineon raceway. The driver and instuctor were in a carrera gt going upwards of 150+ and someone pulled out of the pits across the blend line, the porsche swerved and hit the end of the pit wall. The were both killed instantly. Track events are dangerous and people tend to forget that.
As for the "dumbass ricers", it doesn't matter if you pay $1000 for one track event if the track officials think your reckless/dangerous/retarded/idiotic they won't put up with it and will send your ass home.

They pulled me in and the HNIC came over and said, "I'd hate to see you mess up that pretty car of yours for something so stupid, and not to mention there's about 1.5 million dollars of cars right there." They let me go right back out. I was never close to out of control, but I can see their reasoning.
Hahahaha yeah, a quick warning for that sounds about right, at least you were a paid participant in a known "hot" track area, having a little fun.
I was thinking more of rank novices and/or their non-participant buddies, doing burnouts and speeding in the paddock around pedestrians, or elsewhere on the track grounds. I watched a couple of kids get booted out of Summit Point one time for that stupidity. And it happened constantly when we did very visible autocrosses and drift days at Cloverleaf Mall (500+ spectators was not uncommon, and some of 'em should've been arrested for their behavior.)
