I remember that, what a horribly unfortunate situation. The blend line is there for a reason, dammit, use it...

^ Don't doubt it... at VIR the paddock has been very very well controlled. After I come off track I generall yank off the helmet and belts, then pop the hood (reverse in a C5) to get more air flowing and do a few cool down laps to let the brakes cool more... never had any issues with other cars and people. Most people who go to these events are mature and know what they're doing.

Getting on track while it's hot can be a bit unerving... I just make sure to stay track right at VIR and use my mirrors.

What sucks is when you're comming down the front stragiht on the right side passing the tower and someone is comming out and comes over on you, I almost had to put two wheels off earlier this year... it was annoying.

There was more than one?
I went to one in March and I thought it was the first and last one.

There were several US DRIFT events at Cloverleaf in '04.

There were at perhaps a half-dozen autocrosses there in '04 as well.

In '05 there was one US DRIFT event (the one you mentioned) then one NASA autocross in April, then Chesterfield county said "no more."

Damn that was a great site, though. Hard on tires but awesome courses...

Back on topic - I sure hope DragonsRidge builds their planned kart track so we can autocross on it...

I remind my students that they can hurt themselves out there (and possibly kill me & themselves), that while a relitively safe sport, you have to keep alert and keep the thinking cap on... I know its an extreme topic, but it is the truth, and I feel that it must be said. So far, none have killed me.....

We had no issues at the AudClubNA ViR event. everyone KNEW to stay track RIGHT when leaving the pit...

I knew to stay track LEFT when proceding into turn 1.

Ok I went by DragonsRidge last week and here's what I can report:

1) Ground has not been broken on the property, it's still just woods.

2) VDOT is significantly widening/grading/paving the road in from 33.

3) From the October 17, 2005 New Kent County Planning Commission meeting minutes:

"Mr. Hubbard asked for an update on the Dragonsridge Motorsports Park. Staff responded that we have received an update on the Dragonsridge Motorsports Park and we are expecting to receive preliminary plans within the month."

(Later meeting minutes are not online yet, but will hopefully also contain good news.)

Sure sounds like it's moving forward to me
