Default y8 check engine light on wont rev over 5k????

Earlier this evening I was driving my y8 ek and hit 6800rpm in third gear and the check engine light came on and the car will not rev over 5k rpm!!!! Ouch!!! Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what could be wrong? I was thinking that my problem would have something to do with the vtech since the car redlines at 5000-5300rpm now. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. thanks

v-tech eh? lol anyway, had a problem like this with my motor. throwing codes? Your ecu can be in limp mode. mine was throwing code 13 which is baromic (sp?) pressure sensor or something-which has to do with the car adapting to different altitudes. But then I got the timing changed and ran fine again. You should also check your TPS. CHECK ECU FOR CODES 1st!!
