head problems
I am almost positive its where the oil passes from the block to the head. If i was home i would offer to check it for you. Like i said, i got a head from someone off here an it looked brand new. Didn't check it like a dip and it did what you are describing. Come to find out it was warped ever so slightly.
Did you have this had on the motor before? Or is it new to you (the head i mean?)
I know this sounds petty....but you did make sure it was not upside down?

that was my initial thought....easy to get confused if it was his first head gasket job cause itll slide on either way, but of course the passages dont line up. lets see a picture of the left side of the head nearest the exhaust and itll be apparant if it is or not.

well i finally got the head off and found that the head gaket was on properly and still being held in by the dowel pins so I am sending the head to themachine shop and see what they say. The head was on the motor when i bought it and the guy told me it only had a spun bearing on the #3 cylinder. i started it up ever so briefly and it ran then so idunno. thanks though for the opinions I reaally appreciate it and have a general idea of whats going on now
