Default head unit problems

so i just picked up a new nissan hardbody from Vern (great guy to to business with). i get a new head unit that is ipod ready, and as im switching them out i notice all the power connections twisted together. meaning the 12 volt power supply and the constant power supply are conected when they are supposed to be seperate to keep the head units memory. so i check the wire with a test light with the key in the ignition and with out it. the constant power supply has no power at all times, while the 12 volt power has power when the key is switched to accesories. i checked all the fuses and they are fine. Any ideas why the constant 12 volt supply is getting no power?

just run another wire, make sure you put a fuse inline. The constant wire should be the yellow one. Use something around 14 or 16 AWG wire, and use a 15A fuse. Try and connect it directly to the battery. If you connect it to another wire from the fuse block that has constant power, you risk burning up the fusible link in the engine. If you dont know what fusible link it, its like a fuse, expect when it blows, unlike a fuse, the wire burns up, and you need to replace a section of a wire.
