I think I'm going to pass. I don't want to pay for a car fax to find out where it came from and that wouldn't tell me how long it was submerged. Than and electrical issues just isn't my thing. I know I could talk him down more, but not sure if I'd want that possible headache.

i'd stay away from it. like everyone else said, it could be a nightmare. and it would suck to find that out a month in.

I don't get why you'd buy a car with 188K on the clock to begin with.

Doesn't take much to refresh a motor and transmission. Other than that, just normal wear parts need replacing.

A friend of a friend was buying flooded C5 Vettes. The first one turned out great, then after 2 or 3 basket cases, I think he gave up the idea.

You could sell those things all day long for engine and drivetrain swaps to street rodders if they were really cheap.

They were cheap for 'Vettes, which in some cases would work for parting out, but not always. The red convertible would have been ideal for that. Had several electrical issues, but found out while trying to get it running that it actually had a Z06 motor in it, which was a total waste to put in an auto. 'vert car...but it brought good money once it was straightened out.

Don't care about electrical issues for a manual trans swap with an aftermarket or new harness. That's the beauty of cars like that, you're going to replace or not use all of the failed parts.

Thats exactly why I mentioned that car. The Z06 motor would have brought substantially more cash than a standard LS1, part the rest out, profit! Lol
