Flooded car

Flooded car
My brother's car got flooded yesterday (he's in Houston)...
It's a 96 Integra and he said that water was about 2-3 feet deep and got into the car.
The car turned over once, but he quickly turned it of and since then, it will not turn over anymore.
He said that there was water on the ecu plugs...
He's going to check to see if he gets spark and switch out another ecu from a friend today...
Is there anything else he can do?

Re: Flooded car
If he has full insurance, total it. Prob not worth it. It may just be 'damp' now, but wait for the mold to start groing and hes gonna hate it. It also will cause a lot of connections to corrode and the car will probably forever be an electrical nightmare. Water can get into more places then you knew your car had.

Re: Flooded car
correct. it needs to be completely stripped. cleaned with clean water repeatedly and professionaly dried out so mold and mildew do not grow. many electrical components are now toast. and hopefully the motor isnt hydrolocked. He has a short window to do all this if he intends to keep it. i would sell it/total it to insurance.

He doesn't have insurance to protect against flood damages.
The main goal here is to see if the engine will even turn over.
He plans to sell it once a new vehicle is secured.

Re: Flooded car
If he has comprehensive insurance it covers flood/water damage. Auto insurance is not like homeowners where flood insurance is seperate and extra. Now if he has liability only then well... he needs to start stripping and drying.
