I work at Hendrick Honda. There are 26 techs I believe. We use a system call "Personal Dispatch". I think the worse shit ever invented...favorites.

I used to say this and I kinda still do but sometimes. You have to stop and think. Do you really want to turn wrenches your whole life? Its laborous and the money can be erratic. Also have you ever heard of the term "Flat-rate"? As in some days you turn 12 hrs some days you can turn just 1. Ur post said you work at Nissan. So Im sure you understand this. When I first started working there the techs would tell me to drop this shit and go to school. I would tell them that this is what i wanted to do. After working for a while and seeing the true side of dealership drama, I started taking some classes at NOVA to have "options" for my future. All I'm trying to say is being a tech isnt just a gimme and it isnt as great as most ppl think it is.
Ya feel me?

I'm a junior and thinking about joining some kind of tech school when I graduate next year. I talk to a career specialist sometimes at school and he's gone through the basics about Nova's school in Mannassas, and this guy Gary there who has his own Drag Car. It all sounds very appealing, but like other people mentioned, I don't know if I'd always want to be turning wrenches, as people put it, for the rest of my life. Personally, if I could work on fast high end sports cars like Ferrari/Porsche/Lotus/Lamborghini, making near 90 - 100k, I would be completely ok with that. I want to know what the employers at big name companies (as far as high end, exotic cars) look for and how feirce the competition is.. but no one seems to know

The only other things I can see myself doing right now (which is definitely subject to change as I grow older) is going to law school to become a lawyer, or maybe become a psychologist. Being young right now and having a passion for cars, I'm more swayed towards becoming an auto tech.
