My first car when I was 16 was a 1997 integra, pretty shitty, considering im 22 and now own a 1995 integra, LOL. Its my favorite car, ive had 7 all together. For imports, I think its one of the best starting platforms. It is already equipped with a b-series motor, and with a little boost, you are good to go.

If you do buy one though, please take this advice. ANY money you are going to spend on a muffler, intake, something cheap to make your car sound cool, or you think it will be a little quicker, dont spend it. Make subtle upgrades to your car, coilovers, camber kits, wheels, lip kit, and if you have money over time, start upgrading stuff that will need to be done when you turbo it. That way when its ready to be boosted, all the supporting mods will be there.

I say turbo it, because we all know, that is the easiest way to make a teg go fast. If you arent worried about going super fast, than leave it bone stock motor-wise. A exhaust and intake will not do shit, save the unwanted police attention, and dont do it to yourself.

I's sorry but I don't think many people would call you a ricer if you rolled up in a 240 w/ an LT1 in it!!!!!!
With a $1-$4k budget I dont see that happenin!!!!!11!1

Get any Honda. They're good cars that are very reliable and last forever.
As long as you don't throw on a bunch of cosmetic mods and all that jazz you won't look like a ricer.

It's a whole lot easier if we know what you want to do w/ it.
There are so many options w/ that price range. At your age I would go for reliable and gas friendly. The car bug is evil and will suck at your funds. Once You have a good DD then worry about playing w/ cars.
Biased option: Corolla's of any sort. Last you long time...
