It's Official, Chevrolet officially announed today that...
[QUOTE=Fabrik8;2405664 You can make a really great IRS system for drag racing too[/QUOTE]
So what's the fastest car running IRS at the strip?
Live axles can be made to handle better than IRS setups and still be strong enough for the strip.
To stay on topic, IRS is gonna add a lot of weight to the Camaro too.

im starting to fall in love with American cars. Maybe im just growing up. Hopfully it will be kick ass, and by kick ass i mean not heavy. Im sure power will come standard so im not even worried about that. Hopfully i can afford real cars when i get out of college.
You really only need an after market LSD in supras.

I also said that you're already handicapped for handling vs. a IRS setup. It's true, you can make a live axle handle better, but put the same amount of development into a IRS and it's no contest. Where you end up is relative to where you start. I'll quote the full reply that you've taken only part of.
Not that you can't make a nice handling car with a live axle, but you're at a slight disadvantage from the beginning. There are many well handling live axle cars, but it's not the greatest place to start. There is a reason most rear drive cars don't have a live axle anymore.. But yes, if you like to drag race, live axle setups are cheaper and easy to do. You can make a really great IRS system for drag racing too, it's all in the geometry, but it's just more money and there isn't much use when you can have a live axle for less money. I guess it depends on what you want to do when you're not at the track..
I have some problems with not having any camber gain, but I also think there's more to life than a straight piece of road.
