It's Official, Chevrolet officially announed today that...
What about Mach 1's, Cobras, even the 05+ are usually pretty even with LS1's stock for stock for the most part.
Stock for stock I think a Mach 1 is closer to an LS1 than an 05 is. A Cobra is just outright faster unless there's an idiot behind the wheel. It all comes down to preference really and if I can when they come out I'd love to have a new Camaro of course as long as it's atleast as fast as a 4th gen.
I think (like I already said) even with the bump in in the weight dept. the LS2 will move it along just fine.

I raced an 05 GT in my firebird and was pulling nicely from 70-100 or so, i pulled a car in that short 30mph sprint, so I wasnt really impressed with their speed from a stock standpoint.
ah i raced one a week ago maybe.
05 gt, blue with goldish (i think) stripes.
he had exhaust that i know of.
we went from maybe 60-130, i missed 4th but had about a fender on him the whole way.
im guessin he had an intake too but i was impressed to say the least.
it wasnt really a clean run cause there werent any honks and my goofy ass missed 4th.

I know
It's an unfortunate fact that light weight materials are expensive. I've also always doubted GM's use of the LS7 in the Camaro.
The current Z06 owners would cry foul if GM put they're mighty engine into a run-of-the-mill Camaro.
We'll see... but like I said, I doubt it. If the new Camaro is going to be built on the Zeta platform, it's going to be heavy, and it's going to need the LS7 or some form of 500BHP power plant to compete with the GT500.
