All the stuff I want to keep is fairly major stuff that isn't going to come out very easily. Engine, suspension, brakes, et cetra. I don't have any little stuff I want to keep like a stereo or that kind of stuff. I do still have all the stock stuff I took off, but it'd take a few full days of work to get all that stuff back on.

Again, I'm not worried about having to buy it back. If the total it, they total it. I just don't want to lose my stuff.

 

If you buy it back, it is usually really cheap. If too expensive tell the place that it is stored at you left some stuff inside then start taking your shit back. I have done that a number of times only once has someone said something. Maybe because I started taking off other cars.

 

I don't think they'll let me roll in there with an engine hoist and air tools

 

probably get back for cheap, I had a car that was totalled out and I got $5600 for the car and bought back for $700, car still ran and drove. I used it as a winter beater.

 

when my civic was totaled...was taken to the auto body shop on military...but i went there and sawed my exhaust off and took my coilovers off and didn't bother with puttin on replacements...i talked with the guy runnin the place and told him i had to get things off and he said "just go around back"...came back as many times till i got all my stuff off

 

just remeber it's YOUR car. they can't take the car until you sign the title over to them/the junkyard etc..

 

Yeah good point, I didn't think about that. Just filed a claim, the adjuster should be calling me on Monday to set stuff up. Who knows though, maybe this is all for nothing and they don't total it. I don't see how they couldn't but time will tell.

What a hassle, but on the bright side I have no excuse not to build my engine since I have to take it out anyway Now to find a beater to drive around and another 240 ... or maybe something completely different?

 

When my car was totaled, I also towed it to my house. I did the paperwork with the insurance company, they had someone come out to look at it, and they then told me that within the week someone would come to tow it to the junkyard.

Within that week, I took everything off that I wanted.
