1. i was not a dick to the trooper i was cooperative . He told me as of right then i was summoned to appear in court in OH but being a juvenile virginia courts have the say in where i go to court and i should recieve a notice from virginia stating where i go to court.
2. I was arguing with my gf and i wasn't paying attention to the speedo and there was barely any traffic because it was christmas day. I saw the trooper in one of those cuts in the median and looked down at the speedo and knew i was fucked. I had the car on cruise control set at 85 which is stupid to set it that fast i know and i didn't realize i had my foot on the gas, i couldnt even hear the engine revving so for a lack of a better term it "creeped" to 102. I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings so i honestly did not know i was goin that fast. Which is my dumbass fault im not saying it isn't my fault and im not sayin that it wasn't retarted on my behalf.
3. I asked him if it was reckless driving and he told me "its a speeding ticket not reckless driving" and he gave me my ticket/summons and a sheet that had the fine prices on it. According to that sheet if i was 18 or older i could prepay it along with court cost but im not so i have to appear in court.
4. I have a lawyer but im not going back to VA until wensday so i wanted to get some opinions on here until i can talk to my lawyer.
5. I really don't see how VA could charge me with there driving laws when the speeding wasn't commited in virginia jurisdiction can anybody verify that?

And like somebody else stated you guys act like you havent gone that fast before i was just unlucky enough to get caught and now i have to deal with it.

Thanks to everyone thats helpin me out and not being a fucking douche.

Because this happened in Ohio, I'm going to be the nice guy.

Maybe growing up in the midwest and not knowing the horror of east coast traffic nazis, I'm not going to judge anyone for getting a ticket for 102. Granted, my worst ticket has only been 96 in a 60, but I regularly hit triple digits and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. 102 on 77 is like walking.

As has been stated, points CAN transfer between states but it often doesn't -- I've gotten 2 tickets in VA and neither have transferred to my OH record. However, I've never heard of standing trial in a different state -- that raises all kinds of questions, like how could you face your accuser (the cop) if you stand trial 7 hours away. It doesn't make sense.

I'd call the number on the ticket and confirm the court date, then plan on being there. If you do end up getting something from VA saying otherwise, I'd be surprised.

OH has a reckless driving offense, but its not automatically tied to speeding like it is in VA. Unless something's changed, I haven't lived there in 7 years. If the ticket was for speeding, that's all you'll face. My understanding is that if you're convicted of speeding, you'll get points for speeding in VA -- they won't look at the speeds and give you 6 points or anything.

My 1 ticket in Ohio when I was a juvenile was the lightest one of all. I had to go to court with my parents and the judge basically gave me a mean look and told me to be a good little boy, and I paid a very small fine considering I was doing 86 in a 55. Buck up, this is nothing.

I dont know about anyone else but whenever I get to about 100MPH, I am pretty sure you can tell just by looking at your surroundings.

I call bullshit on your stupid story.

You might have a chance at getting it reduced since your speedometer only goes up to 85. If the trial is in OH, they can only suspend your right to drive in OH, not VA. You'll probably face stiffer penalties here in VA anyways.

As per the interstate compact the VA DMV can add points but its doubtful they will suspend your license based on an out of state conviction unless you already have a few tickets in VA.

Update us on your punishment. I guarantee you won't learn from this. Anyone who doesn't take responsibility for it, doesn't learn. Anyone who makes up excuses, doesn't learn. Even if you were an adult, and were sentenced to a few months in jail, you'd be in there telling everyone you "creeped up to 102" instead of " i'm in here for being a dumbass "...you're just not going to learn so...update us on all of your punishments.
