This, was copy and pasted right from the article you supplied:

Your arguement doesn't hold up well. That's not even an official claim yet, just an estimate.

It says that the price has been released to the dealers. I even provided a scaned price sheet.
Also, I never once said a C6 couldn't be had for that. All I said ws that it was as common as flying pigs. Who'd special order a stripped 'vette anyways?
If that's true, that's the first time I've heard of that. I remember Hampton Chevy selling the C6 when it first came out for $80,000... for a fucking base model Corvette!
The fact of the matter is that based on MSRP cost (assuming that the GT500 comes down to that ) there is a close enough price to compare the GT500 to a base Vette. Sure there are reasons to not look at a Vette like you need 4 seats or just a Mustang fan, but from the cost for performance perspective they can be compared.

The GT500 has to suck because it is a Mustang, all GMs are always faster than stangs and better, no stang has ever beat a GM. You ford guys should know this by know.
Also I beat 2 LS1s f-bodies and a LT1 Vette last night at the strip with my heavy slow turd
.Seriously though, the GT500 will has great potential to be an 11second car. The markup will be gone by next year. It is not meant to handle as well as the vette but the tests show that it handles very well for what it is.

^^^ those wheels kill me. I know that wheels are a small factor, but I really think FoMoCo dropped the ball. The badassest of Mustangs shouldn't have wheels that look like they came off a Saturn.
For those searching for a reason why the car is so heavy, is because it costs so little for what you get. For Ford to make the car any lighter, would probably have significantly raised the MSRP.

Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, and Carbon Fiber aren't cheap material.
You get what you pay for.

You GM fan's precious Corvette did the same shit when it came out. $80,000 for a run of the mill, base model Corvette? No thanks.
On the first page I answered the same question you've asked 4 times now:

Honestly, you can't really damn the dealerships for the mark-ups. When they have a list of people willing to pay $20,000 over MSRP, can you blame them? If you were in their shoes, you'd have a hard on.

so if the dealer is doing a 20,000 markup then the gt500 is actually 49,000!! Bad ass!! 50,000 for a mustang!!
