Mostly because they're a different class of car...though the close price will of course have people comparing the 2 performance cars. Anyways, the price of the gt500's right now are temporary. Once the demand drops down, it'll of course become normal.

I don't think the demand for this car will drop. Its produced in such limited quantities...

The reality of it is that you can get a regular C6 for below msrp without much problem at all, but in no way are you going to get the GT500 under msrp. So why is it not valid to compare the cars?
The GT500 doesn't have a gas guzzler tax. And $43K will most likely be for a convertible GT500; coupes are supposed to be $39,999. And I have yet to see a C6 for anything less then $50k. I'm sure the exhist, but the reality is that a stripped 'vette is about as common as flying pigs. Sorry.

8,000 a year for three years. They're going to be more common then you think.

For comparison's sake, they made 13,000 Mach1s between '03-'04.

you might be able to get a base c6 for near msrp NOW, but you sure as hell couldnt when it first came out, just like the cobras now. Over time, their price will drop as well. Its hardly fair to compare the price now of a vette to the price of a not yet released cobra.
