In the most current edition of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, Evan Smith piloted a new, completely stock GT500 to a 12.25 @ 117. I would link something to the article, but unfortunately MM&FF doesn't put their articles on the internet. It's going to be interesting to see what this thing will do in few months. It's already a tire swap away from 11s and $1,000 worth of mods away from mid 10s.

MSRP is about $40,000. Unfortunately, the initial supply and demand problem has the cars going for up to $20K over sticker.

well that's kind of discouraging...I think I'd just buy a 1970 Challenger...but there is still the weight issue..I'm sure with a little tinkering you could bring that weight down...what makes it so heavy, thats heavier than a corvette and aren't those some of the heavier sports cars?

Wow... this post kinda lost me. You're all over the place with your thoughts! First of all, or Corvette is and has always been known as a light sports car, hence their nickname the plastic fantastic. A Mustang isn't known for this. The weight of a new Mustang GT is about 3,500lbs, then when you through in the iron block, supercharger, six speed, 10" wheels and 14" brakes on to make a GT500, viola... 3,900lbs.

Oh, and a 1970 Challenger is a "lead sled" for sure.

 

Nice numbers, it's a shame Ford is once again fucking everyone marking up something that isn't worth what they are asking. Sorry that car isn't worth $60k+

If they could get it back to $40k it would be a steal.

 

Once again Nick, supply and demand. Look at the new Z06 when it came out... they were going for as high as $90-$100. Now they're had at sticker regularly. Honestly, you can't really damn the dealerships for the mark-ups. When they have a list of people willing to pay $20,000 over MSRP, can you blame them? If you were in their shoes, you'd have a hard on.
