Most of the dealers around here have increased prices quite a bit due to a perceived influx in gun buying. The influx was there during the first part of Obama and the elections but has subsided quite a bit. Unfortunately that dying out has not dropped the prices around here.
That may be the case, somewhat, but if this is your first handgun, I'd suggest going to all the gun shops and handling everything you can. Find what fits your hand best, and when you decide on that, then you can look around for the best price. Doing an FFL transfer isn't worth the trouble sometimes.

I'm assuming the purchaser has done their research. To really make sure it is the best gun for that individual it is usually best to go and try some handguns at a range. I've never had a problem doing a FFL transfer and it has always saved me money in the end. You can also find good prices on AR15s classifieds from time to time.

This definitely. It's almost worth a day trip to find a gun shop/range that lets you rent what you are interested in. I don't know where you can find something like that though.

Never been there. I wonder if that is their full rental list on the website.

I stopped by there yesterday! its like 10 for target, 10 per gun, and you buy ammo. I will be going there to shoot a few to see what I like. I like the way the glock 40 and the springfield xd both feel. Im gonna shoot them and see what sticks. Both are 50 bucks from each other, however looks like I can save about 100 if I buy form internet. The guy at PSS was cool, not as nice as the guy paul over at bryansteens (what ever the name on peterscreek)
