VTEC Probs.
Hey,
I'm having problems with VTEC... ive got a LS/VTEC swap and i can't get vtec to work... i've followed the wiring and it's all hooked up properly ive tried 3 diff solenoids and none of them have worked... is it possible for it to be the ECU ive got a OBD1 GSR ECU and it worked fine right before i swapped this motor in..and the motor is OBD1 as well. any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jonny

Re: VTEC Probs.
You haven't done any troubleshooting at all, yet you've tried three solenoids. Grab a friend and a multimeter and see what's happening on the VTEC solenoid wire and oil pressure wire when VTEC should be engaging. Also check that you have power and continuity to ground at the connectors to the oil pressure switch and VTEC solenoid. Usually VTEC problems are either related to wiring or to some other sensor fault that usually displays itself through a CEL, etc.

Re: VTEC Probs.
Do you have a check engine light?
Is the the knock sensor hooked up? 1pin conn. on back of block should be right below the intake, (2pin round conn. but with only 1 wire)
Is the single pin(vtec solenoid) getting 12volts when you turn the key to ON(not running)?
Is the pressure switch getting a ground? 2pin connector on solenoid (black wire on connector/wire oppisite of locking tab on connector)
Answer these first, but you will need a test light or a volt meter. To test the pressure switch is using a dvom on the ohms setting checking for resistance between the ground wire and ground(use ground on thermostat)
and yes it could be an ECU problem, but most likey not.

Re: VTEC Probs.
major CEL's will not allow vtec to engage
whatever it is for you need to fix first then go from there
but seems like most of the wiring is straight
