i'll agree with that.

its musch easier and more reliable to have an exhaust shop do it, and it takes all of 4 min to complete and costs about $10.

 

ok first off you dont want to put the fitting in the middle of the oil pan because the returning oil to the pan can push bubbles into your oil. air in oil means metal to metal contact which also means heat. you want to put the fitting at the top of the pan slightly angled down and weld it on the inside and outside. jb weld is NOT welding either

 

Do it right the first time and weld a fitting on it.

 

what d-series is it? welding is not always a option unless you have access to a tig welder

 

weld it in at the top right....make sure it is out of the crank rotation so the oil doesnt splash back into hole you tap. Should take about 30 minutes

 

when i say center, i mean the center of the oil pan side to side, not top to bottom, common sense would tell you to put the return above where the oil sits.

also, ive had 3 turbo hondas and everyone has been tapped in the center without an issue.

 

Well my bad then, i wasnt knocking your knowledge seeing as how i dont know you. You just didn't say it very clearly and if a guy asks how to tap an oil pan he obviously has no common sense on the issue. Sorry if i offended you man

I realize a tig welder is ideal for this but it could still done with a mig welder correct? Given that the welder has a decent bit of experience.
