Maybe this is just a stupid idea, but if i were you, i'd disconnect the CAS and crank the shit out of her until you are positive you have perfect oil pressure. The manifold being thin would answer the question about the turbo whine as well. Its much easier to hear it with a really thin manifold.
cranking isint going to do anything if the tick stays there with the engine running. My lifters stopped ticking after about 20 mins of idling on one of my race sr20's when i built it up.
The oil pan is not crushed is it? On sr 20s the front of the oilpan is realy shallow. If they get dented they can block the oil pickup and not let the motor get any oil. The first thang that will make noise is the the top end off the motor.
