and to add to that you want shorter gears to accelerate faster and get your engine high into your power band. if you got a problem hookin up then your answer isnt to go for longer gears. its suspension. its tires. its lsd.

b17 transmissions are NOT LSD equipped. some rare JDM ys1s supposedly are though.
acceleration is acceleration. LS is junk.

boost=ls tranny...ummmi guess.
I see what your saying. but u wont hit vtec for a while. personally a b16 tranny would be best. alsoit dpends on the turbo. i dont feel like doing any schooling right now on this.
Is you "shifter" an adapter peice or a whole shifter?

I've ridden in a b16 with an LS tranny, he was in 2nd gear VTEC for fuckin ever, and it took quite a while to get into it as well. I'd always rather have the shorter gearing.
Anyways, short shifters don't kill tranny's...drivers slamming gears do. It physically takes less time to make the shift, and the syncros only work so fast. Keep catching gears and you're going to wear them out.

this should help you decide which is better longer or shorter gears.and no a short shifter would not affect the tranny it would be the driver itself. maybe not having the clutch fully engaged by the time your trying to go into gear. if you shift at the right point in the rpms you dont even need a clutch.
