yes ur timing being off a tooth will cause that.. being that it sounded like its camming.... make sure u break ur motor in to correct timing before goin balls out.... or u will bend valves quickly

alright i fixed my timing and it still runs like im camming lol

ok now its running like ass plus stalling out when i stop. i adjusted the timing belt today and its dead on perfect. i dont understand it. i have a check engine light on now too. who checks the computer codes?

you should be able to your self on a obd1 car by bridging the diagnostic ports. just find a list of the codes.

Did you get the car running yet?
Maybe not my area to talk as I dont know much about 1G. But have you rechecked the plugs to see if any may be fouled? Are you sure all the pugs are getting spark? Next thing to check I would think woud be if your injectors are fouled or if they are even opening?
Sorry if this is something dumb sounding or something you have already done but just making sure you didnt look over one of the basic things.

Without actually looking at it, it's tough to just throw a guess out there, but I'd bet it's the ISC solenoid, considering it's idling the way it is and cutting off. Otherwise, I'd guess it's a bad mass air flow sensor. You won't typically see a car with a bad coil pack cutting off like that, whereas with a bad ISC or MAF you will tend to see the car idling poorly and cutting off.

just my .02 based on a few years of experience working on Hyundais and Mitsubishis.

Good point, he did just tear down and rebuild the motor. It's real easy to leave a vacuum hose disconnected.
