Unless you are looking to replace jets, tuning a carb is fairly easy. There are two major components to a basic carb tune, the idle screw and the mixture screw. Every carb has these in different locations. In order to set your mixture and idle properly follow these instructions.

1. Raise your idle to 1000 RPM with your idle screw.
2. Adjust your mixture WAY RICH, (which is clockwise on most carbs) you may notice that the RPMs may drop when you do this, do not re-adjust)
3. monitor your RPMs as you slowly adjust the mixture screw leaner and leaner, they will climb.
4. Once your rpms peak and then drop off again, you've gone past the proper mixture for the motor, re-adjust rich until you peak the RPMs and your mixture is set.
5. After this, lower your idle to the recommended speed for that vehicle.

It's that cheap alternative to EFI that still just won't die.

What kind of Holley do you have? I have a 4150series 650 DP, it was pretty easy to tinker/tune with.
