Default having problems with my b16

i just bought a 95 coupe (automatic), from an auction. it has a jdm b16 with an auto ls tranny attached to it. i just got the car running and drove it yesterday and it doesnt go into 1st gear? and i dont know why. trans fluid is good!! i car has an auto obd1 gs ecu, they cut the 3 plugs that go into it and spliced an p78, (which is an obd0 sir ecu from japan,(my boy from honda told me). the p78 has 2 plugs that go into it and when they stole the car they ripped out one of the plugs for the p78. could that be why the car isnt going into 1st. i mean 2nd goes all the way to 75mph. im trying to get the car running as fast as possible so i can drive it daily! thanks for all your help!!!!

It's not just matching the rev limiter and the fact that it's auto when it comes to ecu's though. I dont know if it's the right one, but I would go to a Honda forum and ask. I know plenty of people that wok at honda, and THINk they know what they are talking about.....Not to say that applies to your friend, but people can be wrong.
