Default Grinding from neutral to reverse.

I got this early ninetys escort. When I shift to reverse it likes to grind. Specially when I go from neutral to reverse. Any ideas one what this might be and how to fix it?

I know that most hondas do this. I just got from 3rd then reverse to stop it as much as possible.

put it into a different gear before reverse, but yes hondas are notorious for that

Your synchronizers are shot, you can fix it but the transmission has to be taking out and torn apart, just get in the habit of puting it in 2nd gear before going to reverse or between going from reverse to 1st. you can go on howstuffworks.com under transmission if you want to see the break down in the trany and how the syncro's work.
