how can you tell when the fuel filter needs to be changed, and how do you change it

if you dont know when it was changed last..its probably a good idea to change it. and going by your display name, you have a 2000 civic, its right on the firewall beside the battery. you undo the top banjo bolt and the line under it, maybe 2 bracket bolts and it comes out. reverse that process for installation.

slowly loosen the banjo bolt and the fuel pressure will equalize slowly, that way it doesnt spray out as much.

Have a rag ready to catch the fuel. Might wanna consider taking the negative off the battery.

to relaease fuel pressure just take the gas cap off dont get retarded with your shit you dont have to take the negative battery cable off that wont do shit or you could just let your car just sit for mabey 15 minutes to an hour and all fuel pressure will depleate
