Default b20 vtec

ok im in the process of putting a b20 vtec together, just ran into a b16 head with crower stage 1 cams, springs and retainers, my question is, will there be that much of a difference from just a stock head, any comments will be greatly appreciated

It should pull a little bit harder and Increase in HP since there is a slightly more radical cam grind. What do you plan on doing with b20 vtec? All motor or boost.

My opinion, if you already have a b16 head. Keep it. The money you spend on a "semi-built" stage 1 cam'd head, you can better your self and get a more radical cam and get the head built to your likings. Just my view on it.

Port that head. The major bottle neck here is the head, not the block

Can't hang with the 1.6 lita. haha, yes. Ferrea has some nice valves for b16 heads i've heard. What pistons are you going with?

This set-up would produce a decent amount of power, and with the b16 head with the stage one cams would help the b20 block breathe up-top. The major problem is in the rod to stroke ratio.. rev it out too much and the piston speed will catch up to you.. if the angle is too much at the right RPM and there goes a rod. Longer rods (forged) will yield a slower piston speed and less side wall force due to the rod angle and be able to handle more abuse from a longer stroke crank.

Honestly, grab a b20 crank and a V-Tec block and slap on the b16 head.
