I have a question about the physics of your setup that no one else runs.

Riding in a 2500lb civic with with CG is just about 0.8 meters towards the front from the middle of the car you approach a
bump with a peak of 0.013 meters above the normal road level that is 1 meter long. Neglecting all friction in the shocks, springs, and arm joints; and flexing of the tires; calculate how high and how fast teh driver is pushed up, the compression dampening felt by the driver, and how fast he comes down, and the rebound dampening felt by the driver, with your setup with the OEM shocks in rear if the car is traveling 96 km/h.. in english units :ft, ft/sec, and Newtons/(ft/sec)

Well the "sleeve-overs" from ground control due to their quality are essentially as good as a full coilover in most cases.

Koni Yellows w/ shortened staff + Ground Controls + GC extended top hats (depending on car) = winnar

Suspension is not something to skimp out on.

you know i was going to modify my strut top hats to compensate for the konis but the wishbones i was using would have required a shim sleeve so i just sold em wish i would have kept em....

ummmm, well fist off i do get a little bounce when i am traveling down the highway and i experience a dip in the road, but thats mainly due to the fact i only have like 3 inchs total suspension travel, thats including upward motion and downward motion.... as if to say i only have about 1.5-2 inches tops that my wheels can travel into the wheelwells and/or fenders yes your right. it is a little complex but thats what i chose when i was doing my suspension conversion, not to mention the fact that with my front swaybar (not even supposed to be in the facter, because my car started its life as a dx) now my front wheels dont hang down freely when i elevate the car to do oil changes and such...

I've heard mixed feelings on them ross. and spence, you're wrong. most people these days use sleeve coilovers for looks and what not. if you want performance, get a full damper kit or a full coilover system. but if you just want to be dumped, I don't think they are a bad choice. the NRG coilover sleeves look legit so I say go for it. just don't use them on stock shocks, it will be your biggest regret.
its funny, because a lot of people do lower their shit on stock springs/shocks.... as ross did. and yes, i did forget to mention coilovers are used for bling as well. big whoop. as everyone has already talked about, coilovers are as good as the springs inside of them. sometimes, people use stock springs... etc etc.

am I still wrong, after reading these other posts? kthx.

wow did i make your pussy hurt or something. lowering a car on stock struts makes a car ride like ass if its a big drop. trust me i know, i did it on my old car. this time though, im going with the omni power full coilover system. its only 650$ so im sold.

Well the problem with lowering on stock struts is simple.

They weren't made for the different spring rates on lowering springs or coilovers so you get a crap ride.

As part of that, they're instantly more prone to blowing and then you have to do everything all over again. So you spend the money up front on quality setup (budget KYB AGX, up to like Konis or full coilover) and then not worry about the blowing.

In addition to that once you've upgraded you've got the ability to play with the spring rates, the height, the stiffness of the struts, etc.

well first off spence meant stock struts not springs...
you can put coilovers, lowering springs, or cut springs for that matter on stock struts all day. it'll ride fine if your stock struts aren't blown already. most of the time when kids get these hondas and start chopping them up they don't consider the fact that the struts are probably still the original struts due to the fact that people fail at maintaining their vehicles....
so with that said if you have old blown ass struts and your going to start chopping up your civic. its probably best instead of replacing your stock struts with new stock struts get the ones that best compliment your springs of choice....
