Im 17 and want to get my motorcycle license, I already have a car license, so I just have to take the eye exam, knowledge exam, road course, and if i want that other course that gives you a discount on insurance?? And btw what kind of insurance do you guys pay? I'm thinking of getting a 95 Kawasaki Ninja? Are those bad bikes for insurance?

A insurance company will look at the size of the bike(as in how much CC) and the year. And not every insurance company will care about the course.
I have Progressive and I pay close to $400 a year which is pretty good I think plus I didnt take that course.

Well just went to DMV the other day and got mine. I started with go straight to a 90 degree turn in a two foot lined area without touching the lines or putting your feet down. If you cross the line it is 5 points and if you put your foot down it 3 points. If you get more than 10 points you fail. Well first was the 90 degree rolling turn (easy) Then you must do the cones a bit harder because the cones are staggard,

Not to bad
Then the rest of what they said above but I did not have to balance for 5 seconds without putting feet down???

What if my permit has expired but I am about to take the MSF class next weekend, would I have to take the knowledge exam again to attain my motorcycle license? Thanks!

Read the first post...................but if you are too lazy too

Provide DMV with a certificate from the Virginia Rider Training Program indicating that you have successfully completed the state-approved motorcycle safety course.

NOTE: If you provide DMV with a valid motorcycle safety course certificate, you will be exempt from holding the motorcycle learner's permit for 30 days and from taking the motorcycle road skills test at DMV.

Does anybody know how long the certificate for the safety course is good for? I took it in 2001 and for some reason no longer have the class-M endoresement. I don't recall telling them to drop the the endorsement, but I just noticed it was missing from my newest license.

just a question, the wording seems like it could be either way, but if you have a valid drivers license, it doesnt matter if you're over 19 or anything does it? you can just get the M designation added to your license right? no need to hold a permit for 6 months or anything?
