I don't know the specifics of Snell ratings but I'm sure so long as it's Dot and/or Snell approved then they'll let you use it, the first day is an orientation discussion/video day so you can ask them then whether your helmet will be allowed for class. Forgot to list gloves in my earlier posted so I edited it as well.

My cousin just took his MSF last week and he didn't even have to take a 20 question test at the DMV like I did.......9 years ago.

When I was looking for a helmet for HPDE and autocrosses, there was always a choice of Snell SA2005 or Snell M2005

snell rated helmets are good
but i believe they will be looking for DOT since that is the basic standard
very basic

You need to find someone that is willing to take the time to show you how everything works. Spend a few hours with a buddy and let him show you how to balance the bike, how to shift gears, how to manage the clutch at low speeds and how to use the rear brake.

Seriously, if you can't find someone then ill even help you when I get some free time. DO NOT just jump on a bike and try to start riding it.

i drove my car to richmond to trade for a 600rr....i didnt know how to ride AT ALL!!! i made it home in like 2 hours. it was either ride it home or attempt to get it towed.i rode it home in 45 degree weather late night with huge trucks flying by me .by the time i got to newport news i had gotten the hang of it.
