Not like it will be good if you get pulled in NC and the cop sees the detector...good luck talking your way out of that speeding ticket

well ive got a story about this. i had a whilster that i was using in the dark on my way to lynchburg. i wasnt speeding but my vg2 cloking went off. thats a feature that lets you know when there is a radar detector detector try to sniff you out. it shuts down till it looses that signal. well i hit my brakes even though i wasnt speeding. then i saw the lights about a mile later. pulled over. he said can i see you license reg. and your radar detector. i gave him my military id also. it works when your out of a navy town. he was cool though. he said that he just got a small signal on his devise before it lost it. then i went by and he saw my brakes so he knew it was me. he said that my radar detector was good but theres only 2 that will not come up at all. thats the valintine and some cobra one thats about 400 bucks. he said he usual would give a warning to a military person but not for a radar detector ticket. he then gave my radar detector back to me. i couldnt believe it. so if you live in va get a valintine. there the best. oh the ticket was a hundred bucks and no points of your license.

Yea the V-1 has the VG3 chip in it. It definitely works, because I've had the unit shut down for a few min as they were looking for me haha. I caught on, so I just turned off the detector manually. Sure enough, a min later, a cop rolled on by, surveying my interior lol

Same here. But it depends on what kind of car you drive. My car is very low, and so the headliner is at least two inches higher than the top part of the door frame. As a result, it is 100% impossible to see the detector up there unless a) you squat down, directly in front of the door, or b) you stick your head all the way inside the window. A cop will NEVER do either of those, since both of them put him directly in harms way. Very dangerous move. And from outside the car, you simply can't see it (it's in the shaded top part of the windshield). I've been pulled over maybe a dozen times, and even had lengthy conversations with cops, and none have ever spotted the detector.

As for how good the V-1 is, it IS the best, but it's definitely not the end-all. I have the newest chip which picks up "pop" aka instant-on radar, and it definitely works. But as I have learned TWICE now, that won't help you if you're speeding alone. I'm one of those real impatient guys who tries to take 4 hour trips in 2 hours lol, and that's how I've gotten caught. 2 am, only car on the street. Cop's waiting with the radar gun off. There's no one ahead to catch the signal off of, giving you any warning. You're a sitting duck. So you really gotta drive smart. The V-1 is most useful in traffic (ie w/ cars around you), and to catch cops trying to sneak up on you from behind, or waiting up ahead - as long as there is some traffic on the road, so you can catch the signal early on. Since I drive w/ the V-1, I can tell you prob 50% of the time, they leave the radar units on, and 50% of the time, they're off, popping it on only when they see something worth aiming at. So be careful of that.

Anyone here use an active radar jammer? (passive ones don't work). I'm fed up w/ the po-po here to the point that I'm seriously considering getting one, but I think it's a felony to use it (breaking federal laws...from the FCC). Pretty damn bad. But then again, if I actually NEED the jammer, chances are at that point, if I get clocked, I'm in deep enough trouble to make it worthwhile anyways

ive been trying to get plans for the active radar jammers. i had one that i lost. you had to get some electronics out of one of those metal detectors they have at best buy as you exit the door. seemed a little to hard to get. im sure some one here knows how to do it.

its sad that there are idiots that believe that ur detector can be detected.

If only people understood how a radar detector work. but to understand it, you must know how a radar works.

Radar works in by sending a "Electrical Pulse" out in the area, and by doing so if it hits an object it is reflected back towards the Radar. Making it "Active Radar" and can be detected.

Radar Detectors Word by Sensing that "Pulse" and displaying it to you. They do not by any means send out a pulse, this means it is "Passive Radar" and cannot be detected

If you dont understand the terms "Passive Radar", or "Active Radar"

Hey man I no a little about them. The big thing is if it on or pluged in the cops can ping it and find you. So if it goes off unplug it. Some the can find even when they they are off. This will give you a chance whit some of the new systems like vascar and golded eagle
