Drag radials will allow you to use them on the street.
Slicks will grip more at the track, but whether you really need them is unsure.
Upgrading your suspension will help, but slicks or drag radials will help even if you dont upgrade your suspension
When you do run the car with slicks or drag radials make sure to raise the car so you have the least amount of camber, and that will help you gain traction as well as prevent from breaking an axle.
If you have wheel hop let off and go buy traction bars.

I would go with slicks b/c they leave you room to upgrade.

I made 217tq with the 240hp. Would like to run as often as possible next years season, but this is by no means a all out track car. With a bigger turbo, I should hopefully be well into the 300s hp mark. (Hopefully im not thinkin too big??) But not planning on upgrading that much too soon, though. Going to enjoy what i have for now. Just would like to get some better times with what I have. I would definatly like to know if slicks would be too much for my car, or is it mostly personal preference. Probably wont be needing these type of tires for the street. Mostly just want something for the track.

What size rim and tire would be best too. Sorry bout all the writin. just trying to answer any questions. Thanks again for the input. keep it coming.

-raise the car up to get your axles as parallel to the ground as possible and less camber.

-if possible raise the back higher than the front, you want more weight on the front tires.

-what kind of street tires are you using? im on the new Falken Azenis and they grab pretty good.

-did you lower your tire pressure?

-dont drop your foot on the gas in second, ease into it. or else you end up spinning your ass off and killing your 60 ft.

- what kind of 60fts were you pulling anyway?

I am running BFG KDW2s all round, 205/40/R17. 17s is probably part of the problem too. Was gettin 2.5s or worse 60 ft times. Didnt lower the tire press either. I would like to get some smaller rims, that might help. Would like to start and get prepaired for next year, thats the reason in asking for the help.

Im running 18psi in my Galant and only assume i am around 220-240fwhp. I made it to the track once and mustered out a 14.3 @ 102mph. I run stock 15" alloys and stock pos BF Goodridge Traction TAs. My 60ft was 2.2. Its all about the driving method. I got my best results when I did not launch the car at all, just revved to 2kish and slipped the clutch.

My turbo is small and spools very fast so I dont have to worry about lag or building boost off the line. Now I have a stutterbox and launching with it is just pointless with my stock tires. Even just building 4psi off the line as soon as the clutch is out the tires just spin and it builds boost instantly.

IMO with a 2.5 60ft and about the same power as me, you should be able to get the 60ft down a bit more with your setup, and I gaurantee you that your tires are better then mine.

After in second, instead of just punching it, ease into the boost, it helps with traction vs an instant boost spike. Downgrading to a 15 or 16" wheel with a meatier tire would help too.

yea thatll kill your 60fts. i had 16's a few months ago and went to the track, 205/45/16 falken ziex's. couldnt hold traction in 1st feathering from 3000 or second. the wheels were heavy. dropped to light 15's, with falken azenis 205/50/15 launched at 4500 and it grabs great.

the problem w/ 17's is that you can only let out so much air before the rim looks like its about to touch the ground.

you need to get that 60ft down to like 2.0's or 2.1's

Thats what i was thinkin. Just tryin t figure out what size rim and what size tire would be best. Im going to get something stickier, just not sure what would be better.
