Default Slicks Vs. Drag Radials

I did'nt know if this should go in Tech or not so mods move if you see fit.

I'm about to buy either a set of slicks or Drag Radials and wanted to know from people with experience with one and/or both. What are the pros/cons of each? These will be on a fwd car and I've heard that slicks can snap cv axles when drag radials would'nt?

Also, how many passes can you make on each before they become too fucked up to use?

Thanks for the help people

stickly track only? no dirivng to the track on them or on the streets? if so I'd do slicks. Thye have more give in them and are less likely to break shit. they absorb some of the shock vs. the dr's transfer it. Good thing about dr's is you can drive on the street with em.

wait slicks have more give, i thought that slicks would break shit and dr's would spin to lose some of the shock vs the slick hooking and transferring all that "shock" to the drivetrain because it has no where to go.

Then maybe you should upgrade your axles...I snapped an axle with drag radials, when i used slicks i didnt. I dont know what that tells you but If its a straight drag car then slicks. If its gonna be driven on the streets then DR. I have trouble through my first 3 gears spinning, even when i take off at the track normally (not revving past 2K) I still get no wheel spin with slicks, you dont always have to Launch hard, Take off easy then floor it. Drag radials didnt do much for my car

Drag radials are capable of being driven on the street, although not really recommended. Slicks, can't be though. Slicks will have a softer compound and will last a very short period of time, while offering the maximum amount of grip possible. Drag radials will give you a longer life, but sacrifice grip because of it.

A Focus with traction problems? Does not compute.

nail on the head here.

all else the smae, if you can launch a car, slicks will break less parts than radials. as said, radials will send more vibrations through the driveline possibly breaking more parts.

buy slicks.
