But this isnt what surprises me about ford.. in the late 70's for had a turbo 4 cylinder that made over 225hp and 250lbft of torque.. just nothing to put it in... they later found something to put it in... TurboCoupe's, SVO's, and the Merkur... AND CHRIS WONT LET ME IN HIS CLUB!
I did an SVO conversion on my 97 ranger a while back it made 300HP even, at the crank from a 2.5L SOHC......And I cant believe i just heard someon say what i wanted to all along......Ford was affraid america would be flooded with enthusiast who wanted japanesse motors instead of gas guzzlin 5.0's, its fact......

the fuel cutoff is set to 7350rpm, due to three things.

One - Too muchsumed at higher RPM's.

Two - The accessories (ford is the suspect once again) wouldn't last too long past 7,000rpm anyways.let alone a 10grand limiter.

Three - The (ford) fuel pump provided in most SHO's was rated at 113LPH. at this rate it can support 330hp N/A. But some of the unlucky SHO's recieved the 65lph fuel pump from a stock taurus. This pump can barely support 220hp, let alone higher fuel curves.

And that's the skinny on the rev limiter. any other questions?

MIKE! HE LETS CONTOURS IN HIS CLUB! so whats so great about a contour? it has back doors and a v6? so what.. Im still a "rare" ford... sucka...

What would it take to rev past 9grand? just some pulleys, fuel pump, chip - computer, injectors, alot of air???

besides the accesory's and fuel whats holding it back.. I dont know that the injectors would be a problem... what kind of injectors do you have? low or high impedence? what lb? and does anyone know who stole my grey 1st gen sho from "Always Auto"? I was saving that for a day when I as a hundrednair and could afford to take it home...

you can pay for the new, water pump, fuel pump, p/s pump, alternator, starter, piston rings and new Y pipe.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT'D YOU'D BREAK!

didn't you even care to read my last post on the subjecto of Rev Limiters.

besides i'd need a new LPM to reset the limiter.

The SVT Countour is the baby SHO. it picked up where the SHO evolution left off. If SVT existed in 89 the SHO would have been a SVT Taurus i swear to god...

injectors aren't the problem. they are rated to 24lbph. However once you reach past 300 bhp this is what you need..

30lb/hr, which yields about 280bhp before slipping (400bhp static), and
36lb/hr, which yields about 335bhp (480bhp static),
and finally,
a self modified 30 lb unit which gives 47lb/hr, which yields about 438bhp (625bhp static).

as far as me and chris' engines making it that far our trannies wouldn't. now if you took the engine out and did it that way with just headers and the chip, pullies, no accessories, it'd be a piece of cake as long as you kept the fuel output up...

What kind of injectors are they? and what is the 35lb modded to 47? I have low impedence 35lb in my car and wouldnt mind getting an extra 12 out of them.. sounds like a very promising modification...
