SHO Talk
wait a tick i said nothing that the allure of a skyline was limited to it's engine. I was simply talking in the context of doing a U.S. Accord to Euro Accord type-R conversion.
of course a simple powertrain implant into a U.S. Spec car wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as the real thing. but seeing as how no one on this board has one, that is a far closer glimse of the beast than many of us will ever get.

yeah, but you gotta go all out, hehe. accord type r. h22, 220hp, dual exhaust, auto-bahn suspension, authentic type R sticker = tiiiiight.

i have all that except i have a 3.2l Yamaha V-6 and absolutley no Type-R emblems.
well okay so my suspension is ass right now. $800 could change that all around...

what does SHO stand for anyways, i've always wondered that.

[B but wait a minute, using the estimate of 15% powertrain loss, that gives you 205 at the fly? (what are the factory numbers?). [/B]

The reason ford did this is because with the engine in the stock setup it would be much more costly (would've cost at least 2,000 more per car) and would've also made the SHO the most powerful car in fords line up untill '95. The '93 SVT Cobra only made 235hp by comparison.
15% is very conservative, but for hondas, it's pretty damn accurate from what i've seen before w/ near stock cars and dynos. i'm assuming ford probably doesn't have that great of a tranny so 18% for that
.
what's w/ all the stuff about what the motor was before ford got to it? that's doesn't really apply to anything. what it is now is pretty sorry for a v6. now, you can probably do a lot to it from what it sounds like, but the thing is, that's not what it is currently. you better get to work, bring the v6 to the 13s at least. contact yamaha for some parts

yeah but the point i was trying to make is that for an engine designed nearly 20 years ago it's performance was incredible. i didn't know many N/A V-8's that made 300HP in '85. And this is a six. I would contact yamaha if they actually made any parts for it. Problem with the SHO is the aftermarket is starting to dry up a bit. Parts are starting to get really expensive. per liter the 3.0l V-6 that makes 300hp is just as impressive as a 2.2l I-4 that makes 220. still 100 hp per liter. and the h22 has VTEC my engine doesn't. The 3.2l (i think) in the TL Type-S makes 260, has VTEC and a dual stage intake manifold. And it's engine was a decade ahead of the SHO's.

SHO stands for super high output...ford had to go to japan to get a "super high output" motor though
