Slotted rotors help performance, but not on the street. The slots are to get rid of brake dust and to vent gases that would get trapped between the pad and the disc. They have no other function. They aren't there for cooling.

There really isn't any need for slots on the street though, because you shouldn't be braking that hard and that often to become a problem. So they're race only, unless you want the looks.

I like the 5 years i have been going to the track, I think i have seen like 5-10 cars with slotted rotors. Half were stupid fast porches and the rest were random race cars.

if you absolutely have to upgrade your brakes, i recommend a 99-00 si or integra complete disc brake conversion. best bang for your buck, in my opinion
Slotted rotors do nothing for cooling.

Get some Brembo blanks from Bap Geon.

They also prevent the pads from glazing at high temperatures. They provide something of a "cheese grater" effect on the surface of the pad, which helps keep fresh pad surface available to the rotor. Again, only useful on a track. Having them on a street car will only reduce your pad life.

Will brembro blanks really make a difference as far as braking performance over stock? Or is this just to increase life expectancy of the rotor?

A better question for the OP would be, why do you feel you need a brake upgrade? What car?

check out fastbrakes.com, best budget brake upgrades for Hondas.

i can however, vouch for the non existent feel of drum brakes that are currently on his civic. drums ftl

and thanks for the previous advise
locking up your tires in the rain ususally isnt a break issue, more of a tire issue. i have no abs on my miata, stock pads and rotors, but with an alright street tire, and i have to try to get them to lock up while its raining.

brembo blanks
nice pads (hawk is my pad of choice)
fresh fluid in the whole system

upgrade your rubber hoses to stainless covered hoses to lessen the amount of hose expansion if you so wish
