I think it is kinda funny that a company known for their trucks and
4x4's and has a redneck blue collar image can build a sports car that whips up on cars from companies that pretty much exclusively build sports cars.

Look at their budget. The one they got from selling all those trucks. They can whip up on whoever they want to.

Pushrods - why fuck with if it works?

 

The first thing that I see when I close my eyes and think bowtie is definitely not a truck. Sure they've made great trucks for quite sometime, but I definitely think about the Novas, Impallas, Chevelle, El Camino, etc. It's a shame that they don't make great CARS like them anymore.

Ever heard of the ZR1 Corvettes? Look 'em up.

What's funny is that they love the EVO, STI, etc. They ride terrible and have terrible interiors (for the cost). Jeremy Clarkson will talk shit about anything made in the US until the day he dies, but you won't hear him telling everyone that he owned a Ford GT (owns some new Lambo' now).

Seems like a good gig to me.



Another thing people forget when comparing numbers is things like maintenance. Corvettes are not expensive to work on at all. Ferraris definitely are super expensive to work on. And yes, I know those who purchase Ferraris can afford the more expensive maintenance, but it's just ridiculous. Porsches aren't terrible to work on and are dead reliable (win initial quality awards often), but are still more expensive to work on when compared to a 'vette.

 

Yep it is funny that a company that doesn't even specialize in sports cars can build one that competes with all the premium sports car companies. So what if GM has plenty of cash from their truck sales to fund the Corvette? Maybe those big sports car companies should take a hint and build something other than a sports car. That way they could have a bigger budget and wouldn't have to sell their sports cars for a bazillion dollars...

 

I guess you're totally missing the reason those companies even exist.
