Inspection question
I always ask them to show me what failed and why. I've caught a couple of places like that.
There was a place that told me my rotors were cracked and they would fail me unless they replaced them. I asked to see them and suddenly The story changes to "well, they'll probably need to be replaced soon."

True but dumbasses who don't call the places' bluff are the ones who are 'tards'.
I'm sorry. If someone told me my shit was fucked up, I'd ask to see it as I'm curious to how it is messed up.

Save the hose and rejection sticker. Return to the station and ask which Trooper over sees their state inspectors. Call 424 6800 and get in contact with that Trooper. Explain to the trooper what happened and if need be file a complaint on that station and inspector. The Trooper will probally want to see the hose so keep it. I would double check the hose for damage before going this far. Make a complaint if need be, but make sure that there's no damage to the hose.
Did you remember to bleed the brakes after replacing the hose?

Ill second what Smokey said but only from an Inspector's side of it. Ive seen places pull that kinda of thing and called my trooper up to report the other shop. I think its BS when shops try to pull money out of a Saftey Inspection.
One more thing, check the other three brake lines just in case he got that screwed up. He may have failed you for the one you replaced but meant to mark one of the other three. IE :Your left rear is bad, but he marked it as the front. Check the others and if something turns up with one of the others make note of that too.
