Default DMV Electronic Title Question

Hopefully someone here on dragVA/VADriven has worked at the DMV before.

I'm selling my car and the buyer wants to finalize the transaction asap and the only thing left is transfering the title. My car was paid off 2 days ago and Honda said that they'll release an electronic title to the DMV for the DMV to mail to me.

Now my question is, is it possible for me to pick up the electronic title (I'm guessing they just print it out) at one of the DMV locations or do they have to mail it? The whole mailing process takes a long time (I'm guessing 2 weeks).

Thanks in advance homies.

I've used both of these methods before.......

- Contact DMV and see if they have the release from Honda in their system. If so, you can just go up to DMV and get the title.

OR.....

- Contact Honda and have them fax you a copy of the release statement and take that up to DMV and get your title.

I've done both of the above before. You will have to pay $10 to get the title in print, though. You need the paper one to sign over. Don't forget to use www.dmvnow.com site to list the car as sold immediately after the transaction so you don't get caught up in whatever happens after it's sold, otherwise DMV won't know it's sold until the new owner registers it in their name.

Don't bother calling on a Friday, Monday, near lunch, near closing, or near the end of the month. Call Tuesday morning.
