CAR THEFT CHALLENGE...
It's funny because in every stolen thread, the question "what kind of security" is asked and the OP either dodges the question or answers with some run of the mill DEI alarm which we all know does nothing.
I'll say this over and over again but my $400 DEI alarm with shock sensor/proxy sensor /ignition cut off and backup battery did NOTHING at HIN. Only thing that stopped them was a $50 Autolock.
Wish EEK had one.

. why the hell didnt they steal the turbo sentra
Unfortunately I haven't heard one single recovery story regarding GPS from anyone, especially on here. I would think most would refuse to make that type of investment considering the odds of that actually working, whereas LoJack has the reputation of having an unequivocal track record of successful recovery.
Onstar was mentioned. I had BMW Concierge Service for a year (free trial), but never used it because of the Nav system. I'm sure if God forbid my car was stolen I could call BMW and have them trace it.
EDIT: She's always garaged, but that's more to protect her from bird shit than theives.

Because 90% of the people who get alarms, buy the base system and nothing else. Maybe a proximity sensor, but nothing else. Hell DAS didn't even mention the GPS system when I got a Viper on my old car. You can't judge how it works based on stories. Let's see some instances where LoJack stopped an import from being stolen. I've seen ONE. Your numbers don't really mean much because the reason for our cars being stolen are not the same as why most cars are stolen.
Besides, that's the point I'm trying to make. I've researched and I can't find any statistics breaking down types of vehicles recovered and there's nothing tangible that I've come across, so rather than debate on how many imports blah blah blah, the overall facts are irrefutable:
* According to the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report, 1.2 million vehicles, and $7.9 billion were stolen in the U.S. in 2006; down three consecutive years.
* The top ten vehicles stolen in 2006 were the '95 Civic, '91 Accord, '89 Camry, '97 F150, '05 Ram, '94 C/K 1500, '94 Sentra, '94 Caravan, '94 Saturn SL, and the '90 Integra, with California having the most incidents.
* LoJack Vehicle Recovery Systems installed: 7+ Million worldwide
* Insurance discounts in VA, MD, and D.C. up to 25%
* Recovery success rate: 90 Percent
LoJack-equipped vehicles recovered in U.S.: 100,000+
BTW that recovery number does not reflect the thousands of NON-LoJack equipped vehicles that have been recovered because LoJack-equipped vehicles led law enforcement personnel to chop shops and illegal theft rings.
* Assets recovered in U.S.: $2 billion
* LoJack-equipped vehicles recovered worldwide: 200,000+
* Assets recovered worldwide: $4 billion+
* Average time to recover LoJack-equipped vehicle: 24 hours (often within a few hours)
Thought you night be interested in this. I liked the idea of a real-time gps for myself , because you can report it to the police if you'd like...........or........deal with the crook youself. Me, I would be more inclined to report it and where it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/Real-Time-GPS-Au...QQcmdZViewItem
