What is wrong with a civic? There are plenty of damn nice civics around including old school 4drs. To each their own, he asked for opinions with guidlines and i gave one that fit his guidlines. Unlike some others who post cars out of his price range, or that are impossible to find.

i have an 11 sec civic for a daily driver. Whats wrong with it? The kid said he has $8k to spend. It shouldnt take longer than 2 weeks or so to put that setup together. Body work and paint might take longer depending on the condition it was in. And in the end it will be his car that he put his time in to make it what he wants. I wont even comment on the "its still a civic" bullshit.
Who said anything about honda being god? I suggested something that was in his guidlines. All of you haters are the ones making it seem like honda is god. Oh and at 17 why wouldnt he have the time or ability to put a simple setup together? Its not hard to put a B series motor into a civic and it really isnt hard to put a turbo kit on. All he needs is a free weekend and it should all be in ready to go. And if he spends the money to have it tuned correctly it will be reliable as long as he properly maintains it.

You can make any car what you want it. Like EEK already said, you dont have much room to talk when you drive a 90 RX-7. Apparently you didnt mind have an old car that doesnt have nice looks or interior. Like i said if you put time into a car, no matter what year or model, you can make it look nice including a 90 rx-7 and 90 4 dr civic.

Thats your opinion. I wouldnt want a 4dr wrx wagon, but you dont see me bitching about yours. 4dr civics are still nice to have. Id rather see a nicely done old school 4 dr civic than a wrx wagon anyday.



In the end the option i gave him is in the range of what he asked for. A nice lil car that will be cheap to insure and fun to drive. It has potential to be a sexy car if done right as well. Not to mention that they will handle their ass off if he decides to auto-x or road race. If he wrecks it, it will be cheap to replace. Its easy to put together, easy to find, etc.

4 Doors, LT1 350, 4L60E automatic, 8.5" 10 bolt rear end. Nice cruiser, gets 20-22mpg highway, and you can mod the piss out of them if you choose. Not to mention insurance should be cheap as fuck.

 

This approached another subject that I'm tired of hearing as well... you may not like my wagon... but it has one major advantage. What I run at the track... I can run at a stop light. SO... you have an 11 sec civic huh.... my car "should" run mid 12.'s so you've got me all day long right? Street driven 11 sec car means street trim daily driven 11 sec car. Lets line them up the way you drive it to work.... NO slicks.... from a dig.

Um, the fact that if you NEED a car that runs 11s just to pass people and merge on highways. Stay off the damn road and play some video games before you hurt someone. He would have to fully restore a car like that to make it like the cars that I mentioned, and I mean mechanically and cosmetically. I'm damn sure that will take more than $8k and a month. He can't "make it what he wants" with $8k, it will still be a 4 door civic, it will still have boring eco-box interior, and it will still look like shit.

I'm telling you what I think the kid is looking for, I said "some people like cars that are nice", never mentioned ME being into that. I know how to appreciate different taste that people have into different type of cars and I understand it, but right now I'd still rather have something hard but fun to drive. As far as styling, I actually think the FC is a very good looking car stock, don't compare a $22,000 dollar sports car's styling to a POS eco box that probably retailed for...14k?

Taste is taste. It isn't bad taste jsut because you don't agree with it. Don't try to make it seem like the Honda owners are being fanatics here. They're nice cars if you find a good example.
