I may know of a Contour SVT for sale in the near future...

It really is a great car for everyday driving. I've had mine for 3 years. I commute from Richmond to Charlottesville every day for work, and it's great on the highway. And four dours are always nice. Dirt cheap to insure.
PM me if you're really interested.

not sure if you can buy them for under 8k, but what about the supercharged grand prix?

Yes you can easily get them for under 10k. I think clubgpforums.com or something was thier site, I was just actually going to recommend a GTP. My friend has a 2 dr that he ran a 14.1 @ 100mph with bone stock. You should drive one and see for yourself Remember it has a timing chain so its not hard to maintain, parts are dirt cheap too. Just make sure you don't purchase one that you think has been abused because the trannies do give out obviously since they only come in autos. HUGE hp gains from small upgrades like pulley/chip/exhaust also comes with heated seats/alarm/auto dim mirrors/leather all that good stuff Looking at all the other suggestions in this thread it doesn't get better than a GTP...

Also I don't know how mechanically inclined you are but the older 7 series are pretty decent cars Along with the mid 90s 5 series/3 series pretty much any BMW -318 would make getting around quite fun and luxurious.

I bought my 1999 GTP three years back with 49k on it for 7 grand. Definitely a sleeper too (not so much these days tho.. people are catching on). Cars can be insanely fast for fairly cheap. I ran a 12.66@111 in mine with the stock blower on the car... now they have bolt on turbo kits that put these cars into the 9.'s- 10.'s...

There are a few around here with some balls. 12 sec 3800lb FWD cars that can handle their ass off.
Here's one:

I watched this car pull an Integra, LS1 Corvette and an EVO around the oval at Langley.

late 80s early 90s civic 4 door........$1000 or under
LS or B20 swap............................$1500-$2000
Turbo kit with tune.......................$2000-$2500 (decent kit)
$6500 and will run low 12s high 11s and possibly mid 11s if you get it right. And spend the rest on paint and body work as well as wheels and tires.

Yeah.. but when you slow down and are driving normally and not "on" the car.... you're still in a 4dr Civic.... and that's just not cool.

A 4 door civic is a horrible idea, and what kind of fucking freak needs an 11 second car for a daily driver? The kid needs the car NOW, something like that will take months to build and it would still be a Civic.

Hey, aint nothing wrong with a Civic sedan. Hella cheap on insurance, price tag, & tax's. Mods are damn cheap to. & it doesnt take months to make a Civic fast if you got the cash right at the time to do it all.. 8's you got a clean, pretty quick, reliable sedan. Of course in the end it would still be a civic.. what else is it spose to be? lol
