dude dont try to BS them they know you were speeding ( i got a reckless for 95 in a 55, cop knocked it to 85, 24 hrs of community service) but anyways lawyers are a waste of money... just go take a "driver improvement class" i.e. AAA runs a good one. take that before your court day and take the certificate with you to court, show it to the judge it looks good. if you try to blame it on anything they will bust you harder. a guy in court that day had a lawyer and he tried pulling up the calibrations and the judge made the dude pay 1000 dollars and 48 hrs community service. poor bastard....i still dont know how i got that 92 s-10 going 118.... oh and sorry jest this is miracleboy

ok i went to court today. i say get a lawyer even though i didnt have to pay for mine he was still worth it. I got 100 hours of community service but I am gonna try to do the police officer citizen ride along thing so I was see accidents and people speeding she wanted me to do hospital or resque squad but the police thing would be fun. I also got 5 months no license. But she isnt turning it in to dmv so it wont hit my insurance or my driving record. I also got 90 days of house arresst which really isnt that bad because I can go anywhere I want with my parents, I can still go to vacation with my parents and still go to school, and work. I just have to call everytime I leave and call when I get back. I dont have to wear one of those ankle braclets either. All in all mine tunred out pretty good. My total money in it was 74 bucks. I had to sit in lockup for 2 and a half hours though cause they thought I was going to the detention so that part kind of sucked. But 2 other juvilniles in chesterfield county, both going slower than I was got 30 days detention time which wouldve sucked so bad that 2 and a half hours was definetly bad enough. Get a lawyer and definetly dont speed anymore. I learned my lesson and at least I didnt hurt myself or anyone else. We are both lucky

Why pay if you don't have to? Go in there, be like your honor I've never had any ticket convictions, blah blah. I had court last week for 18 over, I went in there and just told him it was my first ticket, and I would appreciate anything the court would do to help me out. He dropped it to 9 over to help w/ license points. It only take a little bit of your time -- just go in there and be honest, and you might get rewarded.

I agree with Jestible. Judges are not complete idiots, they are gonna know you were speeding. Plus I think trying to dispute proper radar equipment will just make you look like an asshole, which is a huge risk to take when a judge has so much discretion. Just go in there, tell the truth, be very polite, dress nice (shows respect for the court) and hope for the best. You wouldn't believe some of the trash that comes into the court dressing like they are hanging around their own house. Judges get so tired of seeing disrespectful people mouthing off to them, or denying accusations, or dressing like a bum, that they will be pleased and impressed that you are different, and that's good for you. (My dad had me talk to one of his judge friends before I had court last week.)

The case right before mine was 74/55, same road and trooper as me, same day even. He got slapped with the whole thing. I went right after him, 73/55 and the judge dropped it to a 64/55 for me.

Damn kid, you just don't realize how serious this really is. Excessive 80 is one of the most severe forms of reckless driving, what more 93! I agree with Big Bake, you're going to jail. I speak from experience. Just be glad you weren't caught by Beach police, or you would've been screwed even more! Don't bring a lot of things with you to court, so that your processing will go smoother. Don't forget, it's your mat and don't let anyone take it from you!
