'07 Shelby GT500: 12.25 @ 117
I was told at the Ford dealership on Jefferson that it would be $42k, and that they were going to mark it up about $20k. Also the comparison was done by Car and Driver and it was with a BASE Corvette. It was close. But they picked the Corvette as a winner. In real life however, it makes no damn difference. It's all about preference. Also if you read MM&FF, look at the 60' time it cut when it ran that 12.25. The car is definitely capable of more. I think the Shelby is a fantastic car, but I have never been a Ford fan and would put my money on a C6 Z06. I just happen to prefer NA. Plus, believe it or not, a base C6 is probably cheaper to insure. Corvettes tend to have a lower premium due to less insurance claims or some shit. I've also heard word that GM is developing a 430 horse LS3 for the Camaro, and a 650 horse supercharged LS9 for the Corvette (to be called the Corvette SS).

They do a straight track test on the GT500 and tell you the times.
I remember reading the Cobra vs. GTO test and they ranked the GTO higher because the Cobra blower was too loud and the styling was "dated."
I fail to see how the GTO styling was better then the Cobra simply becasue the GTO looks like a Grand Am.
And let me put it another way since I'm a diehard ford guy
C6 Z06>Gt500>C6 Vette>*

Power doesn't really matter once you've driven both cars... one is a large fat pig that is very fast... the other is a sports car that handles and provides amazing driver feedback as well as being fast.
It depends on what you want... personally I'd take the race car over the drag car everyday.
