So you know he is a good driver but what happened in the GT500?? Is that car really only a 1/2 a tenth faster then a 03 cobra?? Or was it because of the driver??
so I think a big deal with the times from this car will be driver dependent...

Ok..let's all just cut the crap and get down to the nitty gritty.
Per MM&FF when they ran a stock Cobra vs. an SS Camaro
Hp/TQ
Cobra: 381/374
SS: 316/340
Pulling the Air filter out of both gained
Cobra: 13/1
SS:11/6
Track Times:
Cobra: 12.79 at 106.39 (1.98 60ft; Missed 4th)
Ss: 13.252 at 106.42 (2.15 60ft)
The month before he ran a 12.67 at 110
Per the new issue of MM&FF
The GT500 ran a 12.257 @ 117.18 (also ran 12.74, 12.54, 12.42 w/o TC and 12.61 and 12.68 with TC)
Most of the 60 ft times were around 2.1X
Biggest issues they said was that since the gears are low (3.31/2.97:1) if you spin or bog it, you're done. Best mod would be a set of 4.10s or 4:30s since Smith said he was going though the traps in 3rd and that could easily make it an 11 sec car.
They also said that the intake was definetly restricting and a pulley and tune could easily make this a near 600 rwhp car.
Cost for the model they tested was $41,950. Yes there is a $20K markup on the car right now due to demand. There was one on the 03 Cobra, the C6 Z06, the C6 Vette and the Pt Cruiser if you remember back that far. A year after the 03 Cobras came out you could get one for MSRP or less, and considering that according to Ford, they're going to make 8K GT500s a year for 5 years I should think that if you don't have to have one of the first ones you should be able to get one on the cheap in about 6-8 months.
Yes the C6 vette can probably beat it on the track, but the Vette and Gt500 aren't in the same catagory of cars as far as I'm concerned...two different ideals behind the cars.
PS - the Shelby was 3950lbs w/o driver
