SS: 12 second timeslips, rear wheel drive with an optional borg warner t56 transmission, the option of having aftermarket parts on your car from SLP (enough to put you in the low 12s) yet still retaining a strong factory warranty, seating for 4, leather interior with SS headrests, higher retail value, limited production, large aftermarket, 17" chrome wheels, 310rwhp, good handling

Type R: ive only seen them in 2 colors ( yellow and white), low retail value, mid 14 second timeslips, front wheel drive, 5spd transmission, 16 year olds will look up to you, limited production, small aftermarket, 16" white wheels, 200 +- hp at the flywheel, supposedly excellent handling

why in the hell would you take a Type R over an SS?

fyi type Rs came in black too.

That's a tough call on which I'd choose. I really like both cars.
From my UNBIASED perspective it breaks down like this.

Camaro:
Obviously faster, definitely looks nice.
Pretty common, even when modded.
A big car...I've driven more than a few, the car is bigger than I prefer.

ITR:
I love the way these cars feel to drive. Interior and the overall feel of the car is great IMO.
Pretty rare. I know I always look hard when I see a type R.
Not that fast in a straight line.

It all comes down to what's more important to a person.
