I forgot to mention, I went through the ridiculous Verizon hiring process. What a waste of time. I believe it was 1; Test, 2; interview, 3; interview; 4; phone interview 5; call some number and find out if they hired you, to which I was told all positions were filled.

I don't even waste my time at "large" companies like that anymore, I've walked into 30 person SMB's and landed a $60k job in an hour.

There are perks to working for a big company too. Like benefits. I have yet to meet someone with better benefits than we have, and we don't pay a dime for them. Job security is probably the biggest perk also. I didn't want to have to worry about having a good job in the next 5 years, and you don't have that problem here either. Not to mention the pay. I am a HS Graduate that was in the Army for 4 years, and $72k a year was my worst year here. Not bad for an un-educated jack ass like my self.
There are some annoying things also though. Like Being so big that management at the top of the company really has no idea how things really work way down at the customer level. Or that the first thing they ask you when you apply for another job or for a management position is, what race and gender you are.
But if I ever find anything better, I'll go. It hasn't happened yet, and I doubt it will happen in the next 22 years before I retire. But I will keep looking.

Just curious, what is your IT experience? I don't think you'll get hired unless you have a degree. I'm an intern and I make $30k+ doing IT work, so if you get hired by Cox or Verizon I'd hope you can make more than $27k.

I see, that's how I was when I first started. It is funny when you start taking classes because you find out the real way to do things and it's a big "Oh that makes sense" type of moment. I used to make databases but I learned on my own and once I took classes I was like.. so that's how they are SUPPOSED to be made.. lol
